The Health & Safety Excellence Awards 2025, held on April 17 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, celebrated the most innovative and impactful health and safety initiatives across Ireland. With over 80 entries spanning 18 categories, the event highlighted the critical role of proactive safety cultures in driving organisational success.

1. Leadership commitment is paramount

Activ8 Solar Energies exemplified the power of strong leadership in health and safety. Their dedication to embedding safety into every facet of their operations earned them both the Grand Prix and the Health & Safety Excellence Award in the Utilities & Services category. The company's success underscores the importance of leadership in fostering a safety-first culture.

2. Innovation enhances safety outcomes

Chadwicks Group's development of a Forklift Safety Observations App demonstrated how technological innovation can significantly improve safety practices. By leveraging digital tools, they streamlined safety observations and reporting, leading to more efficient hazard identification and risk mitigation.

3. Employee engagement drives success

Longford County Council's recognition in the Public Sector category highlighted the importance of engaging employees in safety initiatives. Their comprehensive approach to health and safety, which involved staff at all levels, resulted in improved safety performance and a more inclusive safety culture.
