Turning back to the Health & Safety Excellence Awards 2026, held on 30th April at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, ATC Logistics and Transport's win of the Health & Safety Excellence Award in the Transport category recognised a company that has built a safety management system commensurate with the scale, complexity, and geographic breadth of its operations.

ATC Logistics and Transport operates in a sector where transport is not a support function but the core business itself. As a logistics company delivering racks to data centres across almost all of Europe and into further international markets, ATC's drivers and transport teams face the inherent daily risks of professional road transport across diverse road networks, jurisdictions, and weather conditions. Building a health and safety management system capable of performing consistently across that operational footprint requires both structural rigour and the kind of employee engagement that keeps safety practice alive beyond the policy document.

The judging panel commended ATC's clear and well-executed approach across both dimensions. Organisational targets are clearly defined, providing the framework within which performance against health, safety, and sustainability metrics is tracked with precision. The effective use of visuals throughout the submission reflected an organisation that understands the importance of communicating safety information in formats that frontline employees can readily engage with, a particularly relevant consideration for a company whose workforce operates across multiple countries and linguistic contexts.

That multilingual dimension of ATC's safety approach was specifically highlighted by the judges. Expanding communication across multiple languages ensures that safety messaging reaches every driver and team member on equal terms, regardless of their first language, which is both a compliance consideration and a genuine expression of the company's commitment to workforce safety. The ongoing development of the company's Learning Management System reinforces this, signalling a sustained investment in safety engagement that goes beyond initial training.

Feedback from drivers confirming the system's effectiveness in day-to-day operations is perhaps the most meaningful validation of all, reflecting a workplace safety culture that has taken root where it matters most.
