Buffalo Construction has introduced a centralised contractor risk management platform to strengthen safety oversight and improve the evaluation of subcontractors across its nationwide construction projects.

Reported by OHS Online, the commercial builder has partnered with Highwire to implement a digital system that brings together key contractor information into a single platform, supporting more consistent risk management across approximately 150 projects each year.

The platform enables Buffalo Construction to assess subcontractors using a range of performance indicators, including safety records, financial stability, workforce capacity and previous project experience.

Before adopting the new system, the company relied largely on decentralised documentation and the judgement of individual project managers when assessing trade partners. The new approach introduces a more structured and data-driven process while maintaining existing relationships with contractors.

According to the company, the move supports its continued growth by providing a consistent framework for evaluating third-party partners and managing operational risk across multiple projects.

Highwire, a subsidiary of safety compliance specialist Veriforce, provides contractor management software designed to help construction organisations assess third-party labour and reduce potential risks on active worksites. Buffalo Construction selected the platform following an evaluation of several project management solutions.

Digital contractor management is becoming an increasingly important part of construction health and safety strategies, allowing organisations to strengthen compliance, improve contractor oversight and make more informed decisions when selecting supply chain partners.

As construction projects continue to grow in scale and complexity, centralised risk management platforms are helping organisations enhance safety performance while supporting greater consistency in contractor management and workplace compliance.
