Taking a look back at the Health & Safety Excellence Awards 2026, held last 30th April at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, Greenvolt Next Ireland's win of the Health & Safety Excellence Award in the Utilities & Services category was one of the evening's most compelling demonstrations of how a renewable energy business can embed occupational health and safety as a genuine organisational value rather than a regulatory obligation.
Greenvolt Next Ireland operates at the intersection of two demanding imperatives: decarbonising Ireland's energy landscape through practical, engineered solutions, and doing so in a way that keeps every person involved in that work safe. The company's vision of "Keeping Us Safe" is not a standalone safety slogan but an expression of its broader Purpose, Vision and Values framework, cementing health and safety as an integral part of how Greenvolt Next Ireland defines itself and how it measures success. In a sector where site-based work involves significant physical risk, that level of cultural integration is both appropriate and necessary.
The judging panel noted the strength and clarity of the submission across every dimension of safety management. Leadership commitment was described as unambiguous and visible, with defined strategy and effective governance providing the structural backbone for a safety culture that has clearly taken root at every level of the organisation. For the judges, what distinguished Greenvolt Next Ireland was not any single initiative but the consistency and depth of effort that the submission evidenced across its entire safety programme.
That consistency is itself a significant achievement. Building a workplace safety culture in a business operating across complex, often outdoor and weather-dependent renewable energy environments requires sustained attention and clear accountability. Greenvolt Next Ireland has demonstrated both, ensuring that its commitment to safety is as robust in day-to-day operational reality as it is in policy and strategy.
The Health & Safety Excellence Awards 2026 recognised Greenvolt Next Ireland, a business where Irish health and safety leadership and renewable energy ambition are not in tension but mutually reinforcing, setting a strong benchmark for the Utilities and Services sector.
Stay tuned for the Health & Safety Excellence Awards 2027 cycle, where organisations from across Ireland will once again have the opportunity to showcase their commitment to workplace health and safety excellence.
