Dutch specialty chemicals and ingredients distributor IMCD N.V. has signed an agreement to acquire 100 per cent of shares in Willows Ingredients Group Limited, an Irish distributor serving the food and nutrition sector with expertise in health, sports and animal nutrition, according to Nutraceutical Business Review.

Willows Ingredients, based in Ireland, operates with a team of 26 employees and has established a reputation for technical support and customer relationships. In 2024, the company reported revenues of approximately €26m.

Paul Hanbury, Managing Director of IMCD UK & Ireland, stated the acquisition represents an important step in developing food and nutrition activities across the region. He noted Willows Ingredients has built an impressive portfolio of nutrition ingredients, with the team bringing long-standing customer relationships and valuable expertise.

Hanbury explained that combining Willows Ingredients' strengths with IMCD's global reach and formulation capabilities will create greater opportunities for customers and principals. The integration will broaden IMCD's portfolio and market access through Willows Ingredients' supplier partnerships.

David Scrivens, Managing Director of Willows Ingredients, stated the team is proud of the strong customer relationships built in the specialised nutrition space. He noted that joining IMCD provides access to a global platform enabling more effective partner support.

Scrivens added the company looks forward to contributing knowledge and working alongside new colleagues to deliver enhanced solutions for the market. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.

IMCD operates as a global distributor and formulator of specialty chemicals and ingredients, serving customers across multiple industries including food and nutrition, pharmaceuticals and personal care.
