Philippine food manufacturer Mekeni Food Corporation has maintained its compliance with international food safety standards after passing an audit conducted by Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS), a globally recognised certification body.

According to Business Mirror, the company retained its Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 Version 6 alongside its Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certifications, confirming continued adherence to global standards in food safety, product quality and hygiene.

FSSC 22000 is an internationally recognised food safety management system used by food manufacturers worldwide, covering high standards in production, safety and sustainability. GHP focuses on preventing contamination in food production environments, while HACCP identifies and addresses potential food safety risks before products reach consumers.

The certifications were verified through an independent audit by SGS and strengthen Mekeni's competitiveness in international markets where these standards are widely required across global food supply chains.

Mekeni president Prudencio Garcia said the company's continued certification reflects its commitment to producing world-class Filipino products while ensuring consumer safety and product integrity.

Founded in the Philippines and known for its street food and meat products, Mekeni now exports to 23 countries including the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom and South Korea.

The retention of all three certifications positions Mekeni to maintain and grow its international market access, particularly in regulated markets where FSSC 22000 compliance is a prerequisite for food supply chain participation.

The result of the SGS audit demonstrates that Mekeni's food safety management systems continue to meet the requirements of globally recognised certification frameworks across its production operations.
