Swiss testing and certification firm SGS, through its subsidiary The Lab (Asia) Limited, has co-hosted a Fire Testing Technical Seminar and Laboratory Visit with Hilti (Hong Kong) Limited at its Shunde facility in China, bringing industry professionals together to advance building fire safety knowledge and standards.
According to SGS, the event served as the capstone of Hilti's Fire Safety Week and featured technical presentations from experts at both organisations covering fire protective design solutions, international fire testing standards and test report verification technologies.
The Hilti team demonstrated its advanced Fire Protective Design solutions, illustrating how innovative engineering contributes to building safety performance. SGS representatives provided an overview of its testing and certification services under the SGS Group, with a focus on local and international fire testing standards and the integrity of its certification processes.
Following the presentations, attendees toured the Shunde Fire Testing Laboratory, where they examined Hilti products following fire testing and observed their performance under extreme high-temperature conditions. Practical explanations of testing procedures were provided to give participants a concrete understanding of rigorous fire testing protocols.
The seminar reflects a broader industry focus on strengthening fire safety standards in the built environment, with collaboration between product manufacturers and independent testing bodies playing a central role in driving compliance and innovation across the construction and facilities sectors.
SGS said the collaboration successfully fostered meaningful engagement between The Lab, Hilti Hong Kong and industry guests, reinforcing a shared commitment to fire safety innovation by connecting advanced product design with rigorous independent testing.
